Euthanized Dogs - Processed Into Dog Food
Here's a dirty trick dog food companies pull on us and our dogs, it is shameful and deadly. Prepare to be horrified...Your dog's food contains dead pets, mostly cats and dogs!
The city of Los Angeles alone, for example, sends some two hundred tons of euthanized cats and dogs to a pet food plant every month. Not only is this immoral and disgusting... it's deadly. Because the drug used to kill these stray and abandoned animals, Sodium Pentobarbital, is not broken down by the manufacturing process and is still present in active form in your dog's food!!
And dog food companies don't stop with pets, your dog is also eating euthanized animals from zoos, animal control and putrid, decaying road kill. All of these dead animals and other ghastly materials are processed until the portion left over for dog food production is a brown powder, which consists of 25% fecal matter.
Author and research investigator, Ann N. Martin discovers vets have known for years the dangers of feeding dogs euthanized animals but still it continues. And this [using euthanized animals in dog food] can be problematic because sodium pentobarbital is able to withstand the heat from rendering. For years, some veterinarians and animal advocates have known about the potential danger of sodium pentobarbital residue in commercial pet food, yet nothing has been done about it.
So, in theory, not only is your dog eating dead pets, but also eating the collar, ID tags and plastic bags they are put in. It is not uncommon for thousands of euthanized dogs and cats to be delivered to rendering plants, daily, and thrown into the rendering vat—collars, I.D. tags, and plastic bags—to become part of this material called "meat meal."
If you continue to feed your dog exclusively on commercial pet food, you are dooming them to a painful, traumatic death - an innocent death! But now that you know the truth, can you be held responsible if you do nothing about it? If you think your dog deserves better, it's your responsibility to act now before it becomes fatally ill. The solution is simple once you know how (and cheaper), that's what I'm going to show you.

Keeping Your Dog Fit Without Dog Food
Calorie Requirements For Dogs - What To Feed Your Dog
If you seen the results from several canned dog food investigations, you may have decided that you can do a better job feeding your dog food that you have prepared for them. But feeding a balanced diet may be harder to calculate than you may think. Let me give you a few things to consider before taking on this huge responsibility.
How much is too much? When it comes to keeping your dog fit and not overweight, you will need to consider how much you need to feed your dog. It all comes down to calories...the same way it is for the rest of us. In order for us to maintain our weight, and not gain pounds, we have to stick with the correct calorie recommendations for our body type, and size.
This is the same guideline we need to follow with our own dog. The average calorie requirement is 30 calories per pound of body weight per day to maintain their current body weight. A smaller active dog under 20 pounds can use up to 40 calories per pound per day. While a large dog over 50 pounds can get by with as little as 20 calories per pound per day.
But there are many factors to consider when determining the right amount of caloric intake for your dog. Inactive dogs or neutered dog in hot climates require less calories, while a working dog, herding dog, or one that spends the majority of their day outside may require above the average amount of calories.
Your dogs individual metabolism, exercise, age, environment and overall health will all help to determine what your dog really needs to remain lean and healthy. If your dog is overweight, increase his exercise, and decrease the calorie intake. A good rule of thumb would be to keep their calories at 60% of the normal requirement.
A complete chart of the "Caloric Requirements" for dogs based on these various needs...as well as recommendations for feeding your dog a balanced diet can be found when following the link below. It may surprise you when you see what food is good for your dog, and what food you should NEVER feed your dog.

Nutritional Requirement Needs - Adult Dog
Basic Nutrients For A Dogs Health - Keeping Your Dog Tail Waggin' Healthy
We all know that no two people are exactly the same. Well, the same goes for our canine friend. No two dogs are the same, as well. And the nutritional needs of your dog can vary the same way your own nutritional needs change over the years.
The various stages of a dogs life necessitate changing requirements. Although, all dogs require minimum quantities of six basic nutrients: Proteins , Fats, Carbohydrates , Minerals , Vitamins and Water .
Proteins are made up of amino acids, known as the building blocks that form thousands of different proteins, each with a specific function Every different amino acid configuration corresponds to a different protein, including enzymes, hormones, genes, red blood cells, hair, skin, bone and muscle.
Fats are saturated or polyunsaturated, but your dog is in need of both. Together, they form the essential fatty acids (EFA's) necessary for good health. Fat deficiencies could result in a dull coat, delayed healing of wounds, lack of energy, heart problems, and more.
Carbohydrates comprise a large group of compounds which include all sugars and starches that provide energy and a source of bulk in their diet. Carbs should make up no more than 50% of a dog's balanced diet, with 2 - 5% from fiber. Carb deficiencies can result in possible fertility and whelping problems, while too many carbohydrates cause obesity.
Minerals are found in all foods, but no single food contains everything needed in the proper balance for good nutrition. Mineral needs for dogs include calcium, potassium, phosphorous, sodium, magnesium. sulphur and in trace elements, iron, copper, zinc, manganese, iodine, cobalt, and selenium. Deficiencies in the different minerals have different results.
Vitamins are also found in all foods, but no one food can provide all the essential vitamins. There are two types of vitamins, water soluble and fat soluble. Dog foods contain vitamin and mineral supplements in balanced quantities. But too much or too little of one mineral may interfere with absorption of another or with vitamin use.
Water should always be available to your dog at all times. Hopefully always a bowl of fresh water! A dog loses water daily in urine and feces, through exercise, panting, and to a limited extent, through sweating from the pads on its paws. Dogs can suffer irreversible body dehydration and damage if water is unavailable for over 48 hours.
As you can see "Basic Nutrients" are a very important part of a dogs good health! But there is much more to realize and understand when it comes to keeping your dog in good health. Follow the link below to get more information. Your dog will be glad you did!

What! The Dog Food Label Didn't Say That!
Reading Your Dog Food Label - Researching Dog Food Labels
How much do you love your dog? A pretty silly question, don't you think? You're taking time out of your busy day to read information on the canine breed right now. So I know how much your dog means to you. So doesn't it make sense, then, that you'd select food for your dog that we know to be healthy and nutritionally sound?
Let me ask you, do you know the difference between the dog food label "Chicken Dog Food" and "Dog Food With Chicken"? What is the difference, you ask? About 22%. "Chicken Dog Food" has to have at least 25% chicken in the can, while "Dog Food With Chicken" has to only have 3% of chicken included in your dogs dinner delight!!
And the dog food manufacturers seem to be putting a lot of time, effort and money into convincing us that their products are natural and nutritionally sound with marketing gimmicks and eye-catching claims that tell us what we want to hear.
Don't spend extra money on dog food simply because "premium" is part of the description of the dog food. Products labled as "premium," "super-premium", "ultra-premium" or "gourmet" do not contain any different or higher quality ingredients, nor are they held up to any higher nutritional standards than are any other complete and balanced product.
The same way the dog food labeled with the term "natural" has little to no meaning. So I wouldn't be tempted by that term either. It can be the equivalent to a lack of artificial flavors, artificial colors, or artificial preservatives in the product.
Now that I have you a little more concerned about label reading, remember that all ingredients are to be listed in order of predominance by weigh. You will want MEAT to be the first on the list...followed by an absorbable grain, such as rice. Anything else is just not good enough for your pet!! A very simple rule to follow. I hope this information will have you spending a little more time in the dog food aisle from now on, reading what you're feeding your dog. And I have only touched a few of the highlights on this topic, you can read much more by following the link below.

Commercial Dog Food - Killing Your Dog
Dog Food Nutrition Investigation
That's right! Commercial dog food could be killing your dog, because of the preservatives it contains. Through research, it has been discovered that dog food contains at least 6 deadly chemicals that have been banned from human foods because they can cause the following:
Kidney cancer
Bladder cancer
Skin cancer
Stomach cancer
Spleen cancer
Leukemia
Liver dysfunction
Major organ failure
Immune system collapse
Severe allergic reactions
Birth Defects
Blindness
Chronic Diarrhea
Hair Loss and
Behavior problems, including increased aggressiveness
And if you think, like I did, that buying foods labeled as chemical and preservative free makes them safe, think again... it's just more lies! Many pet foods advertised as "preservative-free" do, in fact, contain preservatives. Manufacturers don't have to list preservatives that they themselves did not add. How much sense does that make??
Many preservatives make their way into pet food at rendering plants before the meat is even sent to the manufacturer. An analysis of several pet foods labeled "chemical free" or "all natural ingredients" found synthetic antioxidants in all samples."
Although you won't see it on the label, since it is often added at the rendering plant and not by the manufacturer, ethoxyquin (EQ) is used to preserve most dry pet food. EQ is the most powerful of all preservatives and may be the most toxic. The use of EQ is permitted in pet food. Take note that factory workers exposed to it exhibited side effects similar to those of agent orange: a dramatic rise in liver or kidney damage...cancerous skin lesions...hair loss...blindness...leukemia...fetal abnormalities, and chronic diarrhea.
In animals, EQ has been linked to: immune deficiency syndrome...spleen, stomach, and liver cancers, and a host of allergies."
And did you know that before these animal parts and by-product used for pet food are shipped from the slaughterhouse to the rendering plant, the by-product is denatured. Which means that crude carbolic acid, cresylic disinfectant, or citronella, is sprayed on the product. That's enough to make you sick!! And certainly enough to make your dog sick!!
